Yesterday I read on Military Times that the American Silencer Association recently met with some unnamed people in congress and visited the ATF. Below is a video of their trip. Warning its a little long at over 7 minutes and has a lot of unnecessary footage of doorways, buildings and walking. You can skip to 1:25 if you want to see where the content starts.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8VTZO3pVsAA Joshua Prince wrote a little review of the video on his Pennsylvania Gun Trust Blog where he noticed something that I missed. While many have been talking about the ATF removing the CLEO requirement it has not happened yet. While the CLEO removal would be nice, many would not understand the full benefits if there was not a CLEO requirement for individuals.

Joshua points out that the ASA also points out that since individuals also require fingerprints, and photographs unlike Gun Trusts that it might be possible to start eFiling Form 4 Submissions in the near future. (For those who do not want to watch the 7 minute video, skip to 3 minutes and 4 seconds )

Closing arguments are about to happen for a trial of three men in Alaska. Schaeffer Cox and two others are charged with, among other crimes, possessing and making an unregistered silencer and possessing an unregistered machine gun.

Defense attorneys will argue Wednesday that their clients acted in self-defense as they took up arms to protect Cox at public appearances, including an interview at North Pole television and radio station KJNP.

Defense attorneys also will claim Wednesday that their clients were entrapped by the government’s primary informer on the case, militia member Gerald “J.R.” Olson, who agreed to work undercover in exchange for consideration on another criminal case.

Reuters is reporting that the U.S would back launching talks on a treaty to regulate arms sales.

The U.S. State Department released a statement that overturns the position of former President George W. Bush’s administration which opposed such a treaty.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said the United States would support the talks.

Jews have been assaulted, accosted, and oppressed by nearly every nation and empire in history, including the ancient Greeks, Romans, Persians, Byzantines, Ottomans and of course modern nations like Germany and the USSR.

With a history like this, you would think that Jewish people would be pro self-defense and pro firearms. While many are very pro firearms there are also many who are very much against firearms. This paper Why Jews Hate Guns helps explain many of the issues related to firearms rights.
This White Paper was written by Rabbi Dovid Bendory of JFPO and Alan Korwin of GunLaws.com.

Red-Wagon-of-Guns.jpgAmmoLand has posted an article on Gun Trusts which has a good explanation of Gun Trust and why traditional estate planning is not appropriate for firearms collectors or owners. It also goes into some details on how a gun trust works, benefits of a gun trust, and how asset protection for your firearms can be accomplished. Washington, D.C. Senator Lousenburg (D. NJ) has filed the “Turn Tail and Run” (TTR) bill in the U.S. Senate which, if passed, would preempt ALL State “Stand Your Ground” (SYG) laws. The new bill would impose a national duty to retreat at all times when one encounters a criminal threat or is about to become a victim of violent crime. New York City Mayor Bloomingidiot has made passage of the “TTR” a centerpiece of his national “Second Chance at Shoot First” campaign. The mayor heartily approved of TTR, especially since bodyguards of celebrities, VIP’s, and political figures were exempted.

When the President was asked about TTR at a recent press conference he expressed his eager support. He said “Great Britain has long banned self-defense” and “Americans need to be brave, like Sir Robin.” The President then quoted a passage from the classic British tale of Sir Robin:

A few weeks ago I purchased a fully transferable M16. Many of our clients have asked me to post some pictures of what this gun is being built into. Almost every replaceable part has been upgraded to the latest modern version while still keeping it legally transferable as a Pre 86 Machine Gun.

One of the first things we did was to replace the stock with a high-tech anti recoil Israeli Stock.

Next build a modern upper with a Side charger much like you would see on a AK47 so that you do not have to take your eye off the scope to load a bullet.

Jessica B. Jackson has written a Law Review article in the Estate Planning and Community Property Law Journal titled “GET YOUR GUNS UP!… OR AT LEAST GET THEM IN A GUN TRUST!

The article discusses the Second Amendment and what the right to possess a firearm really means. She then goes on to define general trust principles, the functions of a trust, and the rule against perpetuity. The history and evolution of gun legislation and the Gun Trust, its method and purpose. Problems of using generic trusts with the NFA and concludes with a call to arms to Put your Title II weapons in a Trust.

While we have been saying this for years and it is the reason we created the original Gun Trust it is nice to see others in the legal community begin to recognize the difference and purpose in firearms trusts. Our trust are now designed for all firearms and not just NFA firearms.

There are many benefits to shooting with a suppressor. One common benefit becomes apparent when teaching children to shoot. This image, from the NFATCA, shows a young child learning to shoot with a suppressor. The reduced noise and recoil make it an ideal way to teach children or new shooter how to shot without having to deal with the typical issues that arise from the noise and recoil that are traditionally associated with shooting.
